UEFA Champions League group stage headline This Week’s Soccer on TV and Online

It is offically crunch time for several name brand teams as the UEFA Champions League group stage comes to a close.

Defending Serie A champs Milan are also at risk and have to square off with a worthy foe, Red Bull Salzburg, on Wednesday.

In their first matchup, they split the points in a 1-1 tie. Both have marched on in dominance in their respective league campaigns, so you’d like to give the edge to Milan based on strength of opponent, but hasn’t earned a marquee win (Juventus does not currently qualify as one) since taking the Milan Derby on Spetember 3.

The other Red Bull giant, Leipzig, takes on Ukranian side Shakhtar Donetsk in a win-or-get dropped match on Wednesday. Donetsk stunned the world in with a 4-1 win in Leipzig last month and remains at large to be a dark horse to make some noise in the knockouts should it pass this weekday test.

Among the giants who can not be rewarded, Juventus and Barcelona are going to have to suffer through their weekday matchups, hoping to reclaim some confidence, before dropping down to the Europa League in the next round.

2. Milan vs Salzburg – The knowckout round will not have room for the defending Italian or Austrian champions.
3. Shakhtar Donetsk vs RB Leipzig – Can Donersk make easy work of Leipig once agian?
4. Liverpool vs Napoli – Points will not matter in this one, but the pure starpower cannot be overlooked. Napoli just might be the best team in the world right now, and it’s a good time to play weekend loser Liverpool.
5. Bayern Munich vs Inter Milan – Same sentement as above. The stars should be out and this is a matchup worthy of the final.
