talkSPORT betting tips – Best football bets and expert advice for Wednesday 24 April

The action comes thick and fast this week, and Wednesday is packed with excellent betting opportunities across the continent.

There are four Premier League fixtures to whet the appetite, with the Merseyside derby between Everton and Liverpool the pick of the action in the top flight.

Hull will fancy their chances against Coventry in the Championship, while Fiorentina will be looking to seal their place in the Coppa Italia final in their semi-final decider with Atalanta.

And in France, Paris St-Germain are closing in on the Ligue 1 crown and they can edge close to the title when they head to struggling Lorient.

Bet of the day

Hull City to beat Coventry @ 2/1

Coventry have had plenty of well-deserved praise following Sunday’s heroic FA Cup semi-final with Manchester United, but their heartbreaking penalty-shootout loss will have drained the Sky Blues of mental and physical energy, and it is hard to see them recovering in time for this Championship clash with Hull City.

Cov battled back from 3-0 down to take the Red Devils into extra-time and a penalty shootout in a remarkable display at Wembley.

However, prior to that, their league form had been poor, with three defeats from their last four fixtures leaving their play-off hopes hanging by a thread. Both of these sides can still make the top six but they need perfect endings to their campaign while hoping other results go their way.

Hull arrive at the Coventry Building Society Arena in better nick, and they are fancied to make the most of Coventry’s heavy legs.

The Tigers are unbeaten in four matches, drawing 0-0 with Watford at the weekend and beating Cardiff 3-1 in their last two away fixtures, and they look a decent bet to claim another crucial three points on the road.

Special of the day

Mario Lemina to be shown a card, over 9.5 corners & over 14.5 Bournemouth shots v Wolves @ 23/4

Wolves are winless in six Premier League matches and they may be vulnerable to a Bournemouth side who have scored in their last eight league fixtures.

In five of those, they have scored at least twice, and their attacking approach could see the shots mount up for the Cherries at Molineux.

Wolves have been hit by an injury crisis and have conceded at least two goals in five of their last six matches, four of which have ended in defeat.

With top-flight safety assured for both sides, there could be a genuine end-of-term feel about this contest, so an open affair looks likely so backing at least ten corners to be taken also looks worth adding into a treble that pays out at 23/4.

The final leg of the bet should be for Wolves battler Mario Lemina to pick up a booking in the course of 90 minutes.

The Gabon midfielder has seen 10 yellows and one red over the course of the campaign, and he could fall foul of the arbiter once more on Wednesday.

Long shot of the day

Over 5.5 goals in Crystal Palace v Newcastle @ 15/2

Crystal Palace have come to life in recent weeks, and another rip-roaring affair could take place at Selhurst Park, where the Eagles beat West Ham 5-2 on Sunday.

Prior to that, Palace won 1-0 at Liverpool and were beaten 4-2 by Manchester City on home soil.

Newcastle have also been in the goals, and they could play their part in another high-scoring encounter, having hammered Tottenham 4-0 on their last outing.

The Magpies have had 11 days off to prepare for this clash and they are still chasing Spurs for fifth spot in the Premier League, and their push for three points could see the goals mount up in South London on Wednesday.
