SEKHUKHUNE United soccer star to appear in court. 

Shaune Mogaila handed himself over at Rabie Ridge Police Station on Wednesday afternoon, 30 October.  

The soccer star was accompanied by members of his team. 

The player is charged with culpable homicide after his car was involved in a head on collision which resulted in a death of a nine-year-old schoolgirl. 

After the horrific accident, he fled the scene. 

The accident happened on Wednesday morning around 7.30am on Andrew Mapheto Drive near Phomolong.

The mother of the child and her other 13-year-old girl sustained serious injuries and are still fighting for their lives at the Thembisa Hospital.  

Acting Empd chief Julius Mkhwanazi said: “When Ekurhuleni Metro Police arrived at the scene, they found four bottles of potent alcohol named Don Julio and a white powder suspected. 

“Powder which we suspect could be “cocaine” and weed “edibles” were also found in his vehicle,” he said. 

According to police the female driver was transporting her two daughters to school. 

Her 9 -year-old daughter succumbed to injuries and was declared dead on scene. 

The soccer will appear in the Thembisa Magistrates Court on Thursday, 31 October. 

He’s facing charges of culpable homicide, reckless and negligent and fleeing the scene of the accident.
