Snl24.com | Chiefs, Zamalek, Bafana: What Next For Pitso After Al Ahli Exit?
Al Ahli Saudi head coach Pitso Mosimane.
With Pitso Mosimane terminating his contract with Al Ahli Jeddah on Tuesday, Soccer Laduma takes a look at what the future could hold for the 58-year-old.
Mosimane shocked the entire country when it was announced that he would take over the reins at the Saudi Arabian giants in September 2022.
His nine-month stay at the club was largely successful, delivering not only promotion to the Saudi Arabian Pro League after the club suffered relegation – but winning the Saudi Arabian First Division in the process.
Mosimane left his footprint on the club in a short space of time and will not be without his fair share of suitors – but what could be next on the agenda for ‘Jingles?’
Upon his return to South Africa last week, Mosimane touched on a potential move to Kaizer Chiefs, although he stated that a return to the PSL was not at the top of his list, though we are talking about Kaizer Chiefs. Mosimane’s agency has hinted that the coach would be interested in a ‘project’. If Amakhosi, who are also in talks with Nasreddine Nabi, offer Mosimane the desired project, the Glamour Boys could be an option for the coach.
Prior to Mosimane terminating his contract with Al Ahli, he revealed via an interview that he had been targeted by Zamalek although the timing of their approach was not ideal. Now that the coach has parted ways with the Saudi giants and is a free agent, could the interest in his services from the country where he was in charge of Al Ahly be a consideration again?

Mosimane has made no secret of his admiration for the football played in North Africa. He is well acquainted with both Wydad Casablanca and Raja Casablanca. Wydad narrowly lost out to Mosimane’s former side Al Ahly in the CAF Champions League final last week, so could they be looking at Mosimane to lead them to Africa’s summit once again?
Mosimane has already proven what he can do in Saudi Arabia in a period of nine months. He has acclimatized to the league and its demands. An array of football stars are heading to Saudi Arabia, with Karim Benzema having already made the move, it could be enticing for one of Africa’s most ambitious coaches.
Bafana Bafana was the only job from which Mosimane was fired in his career. He had resigned from all of his previous positions. He revealed that he has unfinished business with the national team and would be keen on a return. It will be interesting to see which direction Mosimane and his team decide on next.
