Major League Soccer‘s Rivalry Week kicks off with a new one potentially brewing between the Chicago Fire and St Louis City, who will face each other on Saturday at Soldier Field for the second time in a week after the Fire won 2-1 at the US Open Cup on Tuesday.
In league play, the Fire are winless in four consecutive matches, falling 3-0 at Nashville SC a week ago, while St Louis had their previous MLS fixture suspended due to inclement weather in Dallas.
We say: Chicago Fire 2-0 St Louis City
The Fire have been much sharper and dynamic on home soil, while St Louis look like a different team when Klauss is out of the lineup, and we expect the expansion side to struggle when it comes to generating chances this weekend.

Atlanta vs. Charlotte FC (Sunday, 12.30am)

Atlanta United will look to bounce back from consecutive MLS defeats when they welcome Charlotte FC to Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Saturday.
The visitors, meanwhile, will head into the weekend in a buoyant mood after winning four of their last five matches in all competitions.
We say: Atlanta United 2-1 Charlotte FC
Atlanta will be disappointed with their last three results, but having won four of their five home games in the MLS this season, we think the Five Stripes will return to winning ways against a Charlotte side who have lost three of their five away games in the 2023 campaign.

Columbus Crew vs. Orlando City (Sunday, 12.30am)
© Reuters
With only goal difference to split them in the Major League Soccer Eastern Conference both Columbus Crew and Orlando City will be hoping to push further up the division at the expense of their opponents when they meet on Sunday.
Both teams were also defeated in their most recent league game, which each will be aiming to put behind them here.
We say: Columbus Crew 2-1 Orlando City
Both teams have been enjoying difficult form in the league as of late that they will be aiming to change this weekend, but coming off an impressive win in the US Open Cup, it is Columbus Crew who enter this as the favourites.

DC United vs. Nashville (Sunday, 12.30am)
© Reuters
DC United will be looking to consolidate their place in the MLS playoffs when they host Nashville SC at Audi Field on Saturday evening.
The hosts are eighth in the Eastern Conference after a solid but unspectacular start, while the visitors are up in third place, and they will be hoping to close the gap on top-of-the-table New England Revolution.
We say: DC United 0-2 Nashville SC
DC United are definitely a much-improved side this season, but recent form has been disappointing, losing their last two matches, the most recent of which against a NY Red Bulls side that are bottom of the Eastern Conference.
As such, we expect Nashville SC to continue their impressive form and chalk up another victory, while they are also likely to keep a clean sheet in the process given their fantastic defensive record.

Inter Miami vs. New England (Sunday, 12.30am)
© Reuters
Inter Miami take on New England Revolution at DRV PNK Stadium on Saturday evening, in the latest round of MLS fixtures.
The hosts are currently 10th in the standings, just outside of the Eastern Conference playoff places, while the visitors are top of the league after a fantastic start to the campaign.
We say: Inter Miami 1-2 New England Revolution
Inter Miami have started to find their feet in the MLS over the past few weeks, but they still trail New England Revolution by 12 points in the table, which displays just how well the visitors have started the campaign.
As such, we expect New England to emerge with a narrow win, akin to their closely-contested 2-1 victory against DC United back in March.

Montreal vs. Toronto (Sunday, 12.30am)
© Reuters
Four days after facing each other at BMO Field, CF Montreal and Toronto will square off again on Saturday at Saputo Stadium for MLS Rivalry Week, in the first Canadian Classique battle of the domestic campaign.
In the Canadian Championship on Tuesday, Montreal defeated the Reds 2-1, advancing to the semi-finals and winning their fifth successive fixture in all competitions, while both teams are currently on 12 points domestically, two back of a playoff berth in the Eastern Conference.
We say: CF Montreal 2-1 Toronto
Montreal are figuring out how to win matches in various ways, while some of their regulars return to full fitness, and they have been much more consistent than the Reds over the past few weeks in every aspect, so we believe they will emerge victorious on Saturday.

NY Red Bulls vs. NY City (Sunday, 12.30am)
© Reuters
The first edition of the Hudson River Derby this season will see a desperate New York Red Bulls side in search of a second victory of the MLS campaign when they host New York City FC on Saturday at Red Bull Arena.
Heading into this fixture, the Red Bulls are dead-last in the Eastern Conference, falling 1-0 to the Philadelphia Union last Saturday, while the Boys in Blue are winless on the road, losing 3-2 at Charlotte FC.
We say: New York Red Bulls 1-2 New York City FC
Aside from last year, Red Bull Arena has not been kind to the Boys in Blue, but NYCFC have not played as poorly on the road as their record indicates, and things in this league have a way of eventually evening themselves out.
The Red Bulls have not shown nearly enough when in possession to suggest that they have fixed their attacking frailties, and we believe the Pigeons will be able to find a way through a side that are about as low as we have seen domestically in quite some time.

Austin vs. Dallas (Sunday, 1.30am)
© Reuters
Austin FC will be seeking to end their winless run of seven games in Major League Soccer when they host Dallas on Saturday night at the Q2 Stadium.
The visitors, meanwhile, will be hoping to win their second away game of the season when they make the trip to Texas.
We say: Austin FC 1-2 Dallas
Austin are in a terrible patch of form, and despite Dallas’ struggles in front of goal recently, we think that they will have too much firepower for Josh Wolff’s side here.

Houston vs. Seattle (Sunday, 1.30am)
© Reuters
Houston Dynamo will be seeking to extend their unbeaten run across all competitions to seven games when they host Seattle Sounders on Sunday at the Shell Energy Stadium.
As for the visitors, they will be looking to consolidate their place at the top of the Western Conference, as they currently sit level on points with St Louis City.
We say: Houston Dynamo 1-0 Seattle Sounders
Despite Seattle’s position in the table, they have hit a rough patch in terms of form, so we think Houston will manage to preserve their unbeaten home record for another week.
Goals seem to have dried up for both sides, so we are expecting a low-scoring affair and one goal may be enough to edge it.

Kansas vs. Minnesota Utd (Sunday, 1.30am)
© Reuters
Sporting Kansas City will be looking to lift themselves off the bottom of the Western Conference on Sunday, when they host Minnesota United in Major League Soccer action at the Children’s Mercy Park.
The visitors, meanwhile, are currently eighth in the same conference, having picked up 12 points from their 10 games this season.
We say: Sporting Kansas City 1-1 Minnesota United
Sporting Kansas City may have turned a corner with their victory over Seattle last weekend, but they are yet to win at home this season.
Minnesota are also in a rough patch of form, but they have the third-best away record in the league, which makes us think they can get at least a point on Sunday.

Colorado vs. Philadelphia (Sunday, 2.30am)
© Reuters
Colorado Rapids will be looking to extend their nine-game unbeaten run in all competitions this weekend when they host Philadephia Union.
The visitors were knocked out of the US Open Cup in midweek via a penalty shootout which they will be keen to put behind them this time out.
We say: Colorado Rapids 1-2 Philadelphia Union
Colorado Rapids are enjoying a fantastic undefeated run at the moment, but because they have struggled to turn those matches into wins it will likely be another tough test this time out.
The visitors may have lost in midweek, but they should have enough quality to turn things around and push for three points.

Salt Lake vs. Los Angeles (Sunday, 2.30am)
© Reuters
Los Angeles FC will be aiming to bounce back from their 2-1 defeat to San Jose Earthquakes last time out in the MLS with a positive result against Real Salt Lake on Sunday.
The hosts, meanwhile, progressed into the last-16 of the US Open Cup with a topsy-turvy 4-3 win against Portland Timbers in midweek.
We say: Real Salt Lake 1-2 Los Angeles FC
Salt Lake will have taken plenty of confidence from their impressive fightback against Portland in the cup in midweek, but we still expect the visitors to have too much quality for them on Sunday.
Los Angeles will be keen to return to winning ways after looking a little shakier in their most recent matches, with Cherundolo’s side firmly expected to make it to the business end of the MLS season once again later this calendar year.

Portland vs. Vancouver (Sunday, 3.30am)
© Reuters
In search of their first road victory of the MLS campaign, the Vancouver Whitecaps head to Providence Park on Saturday for a Cascadia Cup duel versus the Portland Timbers.
The Timbers were minutes away from winning back-to-back domestic affairs for the first time all season but ultimately settled for a 2-2 draw with Austin FC, while the Caps extended their unbeaten run to eight matches in this competition, winning a nail-biter 3-2 against Minnesota United.
We say: Portland Timbers 1-1 Vancouver Whitecaps
Matches between these two are traditionally fairly close, and we do not expect it to be any different on Saturday as they have both shown plenty of commitment and spirit following a difficult start to the season for each.
