Nottingham Forest vs Southampton LIVE commentary: Rivals set for must win relegation six-pointer – kick-off time, team news and how to follow

Nottingham Forest host Southampton on Bank Holiday Monday in a game that will prove make-or-break for each club’s Premier League survival.

Forest threw away the chance to escape the relegation zone when they conceded twice late on in a 2-1 defeat to Brentford last time out.

They remain in 18th, level on points with Leeds but with an inferior goal difference, and running out of time with four games left.

Southampton are six points adrift languishing at the bottom of the table following a nine-game winless run.

Another defeat would all-but mathematically end their 11-year stay in the top-flight, with games against European hopefuls Fulham, Brighton and Liverpool still to come.

But a first Premier League victory since the start of March would at least give them a fighting chance for the run-in.

Nottingham Forest v Southampton: What has been said?

Southampton centre-back Jan Bednarek: “The game is massive.

“Hopefully, in this game, we can show more consistency and perform at our highest level for 90 minutes and get all three points.

“We’re convinced, if we can do that and maintain the intensity, if we can play with belief and courage, then we can get the three points.

“We have shown we can perform at a good level for 45 to 60 minutes in the last few games but that isn’t enough in the Premier League – so that’s the main target for us.”
