Man Utd prepare £50m Hojlund bid, Spurs offer Kane lucrative extension

Man Utd’s striker search intensifies

Manchester United have identified Atalanta youngster Rasmus Hojlund as their top target as the club aims to add a new striker to their ranks this summer. The Red Devils have seemingly given up in their pursuit of Tottenham striker Harry Kane and are prepared to launch a £50-million bid in their first step to securing Hojlund’s signature.

The Telegraph reveals: “”Their striker options going into the window were Hojlund and Randal Kolo Muani, the Eintracht Frankfurt striker and France international. Ten Hag has identified Hojlund as his preference.

“The club have been working according to a strict budget because of financial fair play considerations but believe that they can deliver Hojlund this summer for around £50 million – although the deal might have to wait for resolution in the Glazer sale process.

“Meanwhile, United are looking at the sale of one or all of Harry Maguire, Jadon Sancho, Fred, Scott McTominay, Antony Martial, Alex Telles, Anthony Elanga and Eric Bailly in order to reset their financial fair play consideration.”

Could Kane end up staying at Spurs?

Tottenham have offered Harry Kane a “lucrative” new deal in a bid to convince their talisman to extend his stay in north London. The 29-year-old has just one year remaining on his current deal and could leave his boyhood club for free next summer. Kane is wanted by Manchester United but Spurs chairman is unwilling to sell to a rival Premier League club, while there is also interest from Bayern Munich and Real Madrid.

The Times reports: “Harry Kane will have talks with Ange Postecoglou next week after being offered a lucrative new contract by Tottenham Hotspur.

“The deal would give Kane a significant increase on his present terms of £200,000 a week, which can rise to £300,000 depending on bonuses.

“There was no immediate answer either way from Kane, which came as no surprise to Tottenham. Kane is in no rush to sign a new deal and wants to keep his options open.”

Man Utd edge closer to Onana

Manchester United have submitted a new offer for Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana. The Premier League side are searching for a new stopper after David De Gea’s contract at Old Trafford expired at the end of June. De Gea’s United career is not confirmed to be over, but Erik ten Hag is keen for Onana to replace the Spaniard as the club’s number one.

The Guardian writes: “Manchester United have increased their bid for Andre Onana to €50m. Internazionale want €60m for the goalkeeper but talks are continuing and sources believe a compromise could be agreed at €55m.

“Erik ten Hag wants Onana to take over from David de Gea as United’s first choice. De Gea’s contract has expired but the 32-year-old is due to hold talks over a possible renewal.”

Chelsea refuse to meet Caicedo demands

Chelsea will refuse to meet Brighton’s huge demands for central midfielder Moises Caicedo. The seaside club are set to demand around £100 million for their prized asset after seeing Arsenal cough up £105 million for West Ham United captain Declan Rice. Chelsea are have not given up on their top target, and will look to negotiate the fee down.

The Guardian confirms: “Caicedo is Chelsea’s main target as they look to reinforce Mauricio Pochettino’s midfield. Although they hope about £80m will be enough to sign the Ecuador international, Brighton believe the benchmark has been set by Declan Rice’s impending £105m move from West Ham to Arsenal.

“The aim will be to find a compromise on Caicedo. However Chelsea are determined not to include Levi Colwill as part of any deal.

“Colwill spent last season on loan at Brighton, who have had a £30m bid rejected, but Chelsea want to give the 20-year-old centre-back a new long-term deal.”
