Man United in talks to sign highly-rated Bundesliga striker
Manchester United continue their pre-season preparations with a friendly against fellow Premier League side Arsenal in New York on Saturday.
The Red Devils have beaten both Leeds United and Lyon so far this summer, but Saturday’s match may give manager Erik ten Hag his best idea yet of how well prepared his side are.
In the meantime, United are reported to have opened talks over a possible move for a Bundesliga striker.
According to Football Insider, the Manchester outfit have opened discussions with Eintracht Frankfurt about a potential move for Randal Kolo Muani.
The report claims that United’s first choice target as they search for a striker remains Atalanta star Rasmus Hojlund, but they could look to sign Kolo Muani if the former proves too difficult to lure away from Italy.
Kolo Muani, 24, has been in fine form for Frankfurt over the past year, having joined the Bundesliga side from French club Nantes last summer.
The striker made 46 appearances across all competitions during his first season in Germany, scoring 23 goals and providing 17 assists.
He also played a key part for France as they reached the final of the World Cup in Qatar last year, scoring in the semi-final and providing an assist in the final against Argentina.
It is claimed that United remain in pole position to sign Danish striker Hojlund, despite French champions Paris Saint-Germain being interested in the youngster.
Hojlund is said to have already agreed personal terms with United, however the Premier League side are keeping other options open in case talks with Atalanta collapse.
If a deal cannot be agreed, the Red Devils could instead look to Kolo Muani, who is reportedly valued at around £80 million by his current employers after impressing during his first season in the German top flight.
