Liverpool set asking price for in-demand defender

With the Premier League season having come to an end on Sunday, all 20 sides will now be turning their attention to the transfer market. 

Reigning champions Liverpool will likely be active in the market, with manager Arne Slot having only added Federico Chiesa to his squad since taking charge of the Merseyside club last summer.

Goalkeeper Giorgio Mamardashvili is set to join the Reds from Spanish side Valencia, but full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold will depart Anfield when his contract expires later this summer.

Another player that could depart the club prior to next season is Jarell Quansah, and CaughtOffside claims that Liverpool have now set an asking price for the defender.

The report claims that the Premier League champions will demand a fee in the region of £25-30 million of the centre-back, who has attracted significant interest from clubs in England and further afield.

It is claimed that Nottingham Forest, Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen are currently showing the most interest in the Englishman.

Quansah, 22, is a product of the Reds’ youth system and has played more than 50 times for the club at senior level, scoring three goals and providing the same number of assists.

He featured 13 times for Slot’s side in the Premier League this season, helping the Reds to lift the title for just the second time in the club’s history.

Newcastle United, Brentford, Bournemouth and Everton are also all said to be interested in the centre-back, who has been included in England squads but is yet to make his senior debut for the Three Lions.

Quansah is contracted to Liverpool until the summer of 2029, however the report suggests that it is increasingly likely that the young defender will depart Anfield during this summer’s window.
