Liverpool hoping to land bargain deal for Premier League star

Liverpool will return to Premier League action when they face Brighton and Hove Albion on Easter Sunday.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are firmly in the race for the top flight title in what will be the German’s final season in charge at Anfield.

At present, the Reds sit second in the standings but are behind Arsenal only on goal difference.

While Klopp is set to depart this summer, it appears that those in charge of the club are already planning for the upcoming transfer window.

As per Football Insider, the Merseyside club are eyeing a cut-price move for Nottingham Forest star Murillo.

The report claims that Liverpool hope Forest will be forced to sell the central defender if they are relegated from the top flight.

Murillo has impressed for Forest this season

Forest were recently deducted four points for breaching the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules, leaving them in 18th place at present.

Murillo joined Forest from Brazilian club Corinthians last summer, and has impressed during his debut season in English football.

In total he has made 27 appearances across all competitions, helping Forest to battle against the drop.

The Brazilian has also made 23 consecutive appearances in the Premier League under both Steve Copper and then Nuno Espirito Santo.

The report claims that Liverpool are considering a number of defensive targets ahead of the summer transfer window, and could make a move for Murillo if they feel he will be available.

The defender’s contract is set to run until the end of the 2027/28 season, but it appears unlikely that he will remain at the club until that date.
