Christian Pulisic on AC Milan’s UCL form: “We need to turn it around”

AC Milan’s chances of reaching the UEFA Champions League knockout stage took another hit on Wednesday night and American attacker Christian Pulisic didn’t mince words when asked about what the team needs to do going forward.

Pulisic started and played 90 minutes at the Parc Des Princes, but AC Milan suffered a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain. The result keeps Stefano Pioli’s men bottom of Group F with only two points earned through three matches played.

Pulisic was one of the livelier performers for AC Milan on Wednesday night, registering one shot on target winning eight of 13 duels (match-high), and drawing three fouls (match-high). With two of its final UCL matches at the San Siro, Pulisic knows the importance of turning things around immediately.

“We have to focus on the next game,” Pulisic said postmatch on CBS Sports’ broadcast. “You know, we’re not out of it yet. We just need to string a couple wins together. We’ve had some tough games in some tough stadiums, but it’s no excuse. We need to turn it around. We need to win.”

AC Milan has endured a rough patch over the past week, being blanked in defeats to Juventus and PSG in separate competitions. Overall, the Rossoneri have failed to find the back of the net in three of their last four matches across all competitions, a worrying sign heading into a tricky Serie A clash with defending champions Napoli on Sunday.

A home clash with PSG is vastly approaching in November, which could be what ultimately determines where AC Milan goes next in the competition. Pulisic remains one of the team’s top goalscoring options and has faith in his team to stay confident going forward during a tough stretch of matches.

“I think we just have to keep our heads up. It doesn’t feel like a game that we should lose 3-0, I think is the message,” added Pulisic. “We’ll be fine going forward. We’re a confident bunch of guys.”
