Chelsea waiting for update on target’s contract situation

Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino will face a difficult decision when selecting his side to face Burnley on Saturday.

The Blues have struggled in front of goal so far this season – netting just seven times in as many Premier League games – but Armando Broja netted against Fulham on Monday in what was his first start in more than a year.

New signing Nicolas Jackson, who joined from Spanish side Villarreal over the summer, had previously started all of Chelsea’s league games, but the forward was suspended for the trip to Craven Cottage.

Pochettino will now have to decide whether to reinstate Jackson or give Albania international Broja another opportunity to impress.

Regardless of which striker starts against the Clarets, it appears that the Blues could be lining up a move for another forward.

As per 90min, Chelsea are waiting to see whether or not Napoli striker Victor Osimhen will sign a new contract with his current club.

Osimhen faces an uncertain future in Naples

The Nigeria international joined the Serie A side from French club Lille in 2020 and has since been prolific for the Naples outfit.

In total the 24-year-old has netted 64 times in 110 appearances across all competitions, including 26 Serie A goals last term to help Napoli lift the top flight title for the first time in three decades.

The striker’s future has been thrown into doubt in recent weeks, though, after Napoli posted a video on social media mocking the player’s penalty miss against Bologna last month.

Osimhen’s agent later threatened to take legal action against his employers, and contract talks have since stalled.

The report claims that negotiations had previously been going well and an agreement was close to being reached but, after recent events, the new deal would have to include a significant wage increase and a release clause to persuade the Nigerian to stay put.
