Brentford wish Emi Martinez well in ‘recovery’ with hilarious mock post
Brentford have hilariously trolled Emiliano Martinez, wishing him well in his ‘recovery from injury’.
The Aston Villa goalkeeper is no stranger to rubbing up his opponents the wrong way and did exactly that during the Premier League clash at the weekend.
The World Cup winner threw himself to the ground after being barged by the striker, before then shoving the former Brighton and Everton forward to the ground in retaliation just moments later.
Clearly unhappy with Maupay’s reaction to his shove, Martinez then grabbed the Brentford man’s shirt as he tried to drag him back to his feet, leading to a wider altercation between players from both teams.
This then led to Boubacar Kamara being sent off for pushing Yehor Yarmoliuk in the face.

Seeing the funny side of Martinez’s initial reaction to Maupay’s barge, Brentford posted a TikTok of the goalkeeper rolling around on the floor to the theme tune of popular sitcom ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’ with the caption: “All the best in your recovery from injury, Emi” with a sweating emoji.
Speaking after the game, Unai Emery commented on Martinez’s conduct to talkSPORT, describing him as ‘very, very responsible’ and ‘very mature’.
However Ally McCoist was left in hysterics by the comments, saying to Jeff Stelling on The Sports Breakfast, saying: “He’s effectively not – he’s the opposite. I actually wrote those two words down, ‘responsible’ and ‘mature’.
“And I put a question mark after both of them, because that’s the last thing he is!
