Rodgers joined the Foxes from Celtic during the 2018/19 season – and the Hoops are keen to reappoint him following the departure of Ange Postecoglou to Tottenham.

talkSPORT understands an agreement between Rodgers and Celtic is close after positive talks.

Meanwhile, Sky Sports News report the Northern Irishman has been offered a deal to make him the highest-paid manager in the club’s history again.

Rodgers was a leading candidate for the vacant Leeds job following their relegation to the Championship, but it is believed he rejected a move to Elland Road as he is not willing to drop into the second tier.

Celtic are fresh off the back of a treble-winning season under Postecoglou but Champions League progress remains elusive.

Some fans were disappointed by the nature of Rodgers’ exit in 2019, which came midway through a historic campaign.

Celtic went on to complete an unprecedented ‘treble treble’, winning all three domestic competitions for the third year running, but missed out on a tenth-successive league title the following year.

However, Rodgers never ruled out a return to Parkhead.

Speaking in 2019, the former Liverpool manager said: “That challenge may come in the future and I would have absolutely no hesitation in going back.

“An incredible club. Like everything else in life, it’s just about timing.

“Whether I will be received back or not is a different story but would I go back to Celtic? Absolutely.”
