Chelsea’s defeat at Arsenal on Tuesday night was their sixth defeat in a row in all competitions, and their seventh in eight matches.

All six of those most recent defeats have come under the interim management of Frank Lampard, who is in charge of the team until the end of the season.

The losing streak has seen the Blues drop down to 12th in the table heading into the weekend, and a loss will see them fall even further down the standings, due to the Cherries having the same number of points as Lampard’s men.

The West London side have gone nine matches without a win now, dating back to mid-March, still are yet to break the 40 point barrier, and have three of the league’s top four teams still to play in their final five matches.

Having reached two cup finals and finished third in the league last seasons, the general consensus at Chelsea is just to see out the current campaign and put their full attention on next season as soon as they can.

At the other end of the scale, Bournemouth have exceeded many people’s expectations this campaign, bearing in mind they started the season as many people’s first picks to go down.

The Cherries head into the final four matches 13th in the table, level on points with Chelsea, and nine points clear of the relegation zone.

Gary O’Neil has worked wonders as the manager at the Vitality Stadium having taken over from Scott Parker with three points from their first four matches and fresh off the back of a 9-0 defeat at Anfield.

Bournemouth were in the relegation zone as recently as four weeks ago, but four wins out their last five matches have propelled them clear of danger and almost guaranteed them at least another year of Premier League football.

Chelsea’s win over Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge in the return fixture back in December was their first win over the Cherries in three attempts.

Bournemouth have picked up four points from their last two home games against the Blues and will be looking to add to that tally on Saturday.
