Arsenal and Man United make contact over Ligue 1 star
The transfer window is now open and Premier League clubs are already busy bolstering their squads ahead of next season.
Manchester United are likely to be among the busiest top flight clubs over the coming weeks, with manager Erik ten Hag likely to delve into the transfer market before next term.
Now, it appears that United are one of a number of clubs to have shown interest in one of Ligue 1’s biggest stars.
According to L’Equipe via The Express, Man United, Manchester City and Arsenal have also registered their interest in Paris Saint-Germain star Xavi Simons.
As well as the trio of Premier League sides, German giants Bayern Munich are also said to have reached out to PSG.
Simons, 21, departed PSG as a teenager to join Dutch side PSV Eindhoven, before the French champions triggered a £5 million buy-back clause in his PSV contract last summer.
When returning to the French capital, Simons was immediately sent out on loan to German side RB Leipzig, and he enjoyed an impressive season for the Bundesliga outfit last term.
He made 43 appearances across all competitions, scoring ten goals and registering 15 assists.
Despite attracting interest from a number of clubs across Europe, the report claims that PSG have no intention of selling Simons this summer and will instead look to loan him out for another season to continue his development.
The winger is already a regular for the Netherlands, having made 14 senior appearances for his country, and he will expect to be involved in the Euros over the coming month.
