Americans Abroad Player of the Week: Malik Tillman
PSV earned a pair of victories in multiple competitions over the past week and Malik Tillman was a major reason for it.
Tillman earned Man of the Match honors in PSV’s 4-0 UEFA Champions League win over Girona before also logging 90 minutes in Saturday’s 3-0 Eredivisie victory over NAC Breda. The U.S. men’s national team playmaker earned SBI Americans Abroad Player of the Week honors due to his latest impactful shifts.
Peter Bosz’s men blanked Girona midweek thanks to Tillman’s stellar performance in Eindhoven. Not only did Tillman set up PSV’s opening goal of the match, he scored the club’s second in an eventual shutout victory.
Following a setback last weekend in league play, PSV rebounded nicely on Saturday with a 3-0 road triumph in Breda. Tillman did not get on the stat-sheet, but he did log 90 minutes as the club moved to 11-0-1 in league play.
Now with a new USMNT opportunity in front of him, Tillman will aim to make the most of it as the Americans face Jamaica in the CONCACAF Nations League quarterfinals.
Here is a look at some of the other top Americans Abroad performers from this past week:
Paxten Aaronson
Paxten Aaronson’s loan spell at FC Utrecht is continuing to pay off big time.
Aaronson delivered the winning goal on Friday as Ron Jans’ squad defeated visiting Heracles 1-0. The Eintracht Frankfurt loanee now has four goals for the club this season as FC Utrecht remains well in the hunt for the league title.
Although Aaronson wasn’t included in Mauricio Pochettino’s USMNT squad, he remains a top prospect to watch in 2025.
Tim Weah
Tim Weah played the hero for Juventus on Saturday in a Turin Derby victory over Torino.
Weah scored his fourth Serie A goal of the season as the Bianconeri raced out 2-0 winners. The USMNT winger is finding his form at the right time, scoring in three of his last four appearances for the club.
Juventus sit fifth in the Serie A table and remain well alive in the UCL league phase.
Ricardo Pepi
Ricardo Pepi made the most his latest Eredvisie start on Saturday.
Pepi scored once and added one assist in PSV’s 3-0 road triumph over NAC Breda. The USMNT forward delivered his sixth league goal of the campaign, continuing what has been an impactful run for the former FC Dallas product.
Aidan Morris
Michael Carrick’s Middlesbrough are riding high right now and Aidan Morris has been one of the shining stars.
Morris logged back-to-back starts as Middlesbrough defeated QPR 4-1 and Luton Town 5-1 in EFL Championship play. The former Columbus Crew standout hasn’t relinquished his spot in Carrick’s starting lineup, helping Boro move up to seventh place heading into the November international break.
