Liverpool star offered Premier League exit despite Reds first team mission

Liverpool fans are waiting to see what moves Arne Slot makes in the summer transfer window.

The Reds faithful are still on Cloud Nine following their second Premier League title success in five years on the back of a superb first season for Slot.

Slot has warned fans not to expect too many new faces arriving at Anfield in the months ahead with transfer moves based on squad needs and potential targets becoming available within budget.

The Dutch coach has confirmed the two most important pieces of business were securing contract extensions for club captain Virgil van Dijk and talisman Mohamed Salah with the pair now staying on Merseyside until 2027.

Trent Alexander-Arnold has confirmed his decision to leave the club when his contract expires in June and the England international will not be the last player to head for the Anfield exit.

Caoimhin Kelleher and Darwin Nunez are both tipped to move on, with the duo seeking more first-team action, alongside speculation over midfielder Harvey Elliott.

Elliott has previously outlined his determination to fight for a place under Slot in 2025/26, but if he does not receive some guarantees from the boss, he could be open to moving on.

Harvey Elliott’s Liverpool contract, transfer value, exit options

Elliott has made 25 appearances under Slot so far in 2024/25, with 15 EPL games, and four goals scored across the board.

However, only one of those 15 league games has come as a starter, as he battled back from injury and faced strong competitions from other players in his main position – including the on-fire Salah.

The former Fulham midfielder has openly admitted his frustration at not playing more but he is not giving up on his mission just yet.

“It’s been a lot more difficult for me because I obviously had that injury at the start of the season,” Elliott told an interview with the Liverpool Echo.

“But at the same time, you need to be here for the team, work as hard as you can and be ready for when the opportunities come on the pitch.

“A lot of times this season it’s almost been [coming on] when we’ve been losing or drawing, so it is about trying to change the game, try and turn it around and have a positive impact. But, you know, any minutes for Liverpool are amazing.

“This is my team, I’m committed to them and it’s a situation that’s always going to have a lot of talk, I just need to think about what’s best for my future, my career.

“You never know what’s going to happen around the corner. If I had it my way, I would play each and every game here and stay for the rest of my career, but it all depends on the manager.”

Slot is not actively looking to sell the 22-year-old, but reports from Talksport claim Wolves are considering an offer this summer, as Vitor Pereira plans for Matheus Cunha’s likely exit.

With Elliott under contract until 2027, Liverpool are under no immediate pressure to sell, and they could set an opening asking price at around £40m [$54m].
